What Medicare plan is H1889? ›

A Medicare Advantage plan combines your Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) benefits into a single plan.

There are two types of PPO plans. A local PPO has a small service area, such as a county or part of a county, with approximately 2,000-5,000 providers in its network. A regional PPO has a contracted network that serves an entire region or regions and can include 16,000-17,000 providers in the network.

What's a PPO? A type of Medicare-approved health plan from a private company that you can choose to cover most of your Part A and Part B benefits instead of Original Medicare. It usually also includes drug coverage (Part D). offered by a private insurance company.

UnitedHealthcare Dual Complete plans

Plans are insured through UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company or one of its affiliated companies, a Medicare Advantage organization with a Medicare contract and a contract with the State Medicaid Program.

Generally speaking, an HMO might make sense if lower costs are most important and if you don't mind using a PCP to manage your care. A PPO may be better if you already have a doctor or medical team that you want to keep but doesn't belong to your plan network.

PPOs Usually Win on Choice and Flexibility

If flexibility and choice are important to you, a PPO plan could be the better choice. Unlike most HMO health plans, you won't likely need to select a primary care physician, and you won't usually need a referral from that physician to see a specialist.

Can I drop my Medicare Advantage plan and go back to original Medicare? ›

You can drop your Medicare Advantage Plan and return to Original Medicare. You'll also be able to join a separate Medicare drug plan. During the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, if you have Original Medicare you can't: Switch to a Medicare Advantage Plan.
