Netflix has just announced its complete Fall 2024 lineup, giving us premiere dates for a small handful of horror movies coming to the streaming service this Halloween season.
Netflix previews in an official statement, “Netflix is firing up a new slate of thrilling titles just in time for autumn, and you’re invited to sit down and warm up. So turn on the TV and take a peek at your options — there are plenty of new movies just around the corner this fall.”
Here are the horror highlights from Netflix’s Fall 2024 schedule…
IT’S WHAT’S INSIDE – OCTOBER 4
Fresh off the film’s premiere at Sundance earlier this year, Netflix opened up their check book and shelled out a whopping $17 million to acquire worldwide rights toIt’s What’s Inside.
Oscar nomineeColman Domingois an Exec Producer onIt’s What’s Inside, the thriller that drew raves at Sundance and SXSW for its blindsiding twists, breakneck turns and incredible cast performances. The film marks the feature directorial debut of writer/directorGreg Jardin, who’s earning kudos for his creative and fearless choices.
In the upcoming horror movie from Netflix, “A group of friends gather for a pre-wedding party that descends into an existential nightmare when an estranged friend arrives with a mysterious game that awakens long-hidden secrets, desires, and grudges.”
Brittany O’Grady, James Morosini, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Gavin Leatherwood, Reina Hardesty, andNina Bloomgardenstar in the genre-bending movie.
THE PLATFORM 2 – OCTOBER 4
Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia’sThe Platformwas a massive hit for Netflix when it debuted back in 2020, and the director returns for The Platform 2 this coming Halloween season.
Milena SmitandHovik Keuchkerian star in the new sequel.
Netflix previews, “As a mysterious leader imposes their rule in the Platform, a new resident becomes embroiled in the battle against this controversial method to fight the brutal feeding system. But when eating from the wrong plate becomes a death sentence, how far would you be willing to go to save your life?”
The first film is set inside a vertical prison system, where inmates are assigned to a level and forced to ration food from a platform that moves between the floors. Inmates on high floors eat better than those below, and one man tries to effect change so everyone gets enough.
THE SHADOW STRAYS – OCTOBER 17
Indonesian auteurTimo Tjahjanto(The Night Comes for Us, May the Devil Take You, V/H/S/94) is back with new movieThe Shadow Strays, being billed as an action-thriller.
InThe Shadow Strays, “Codename 13, a 17-year-old trained assassin, is under suspension because of a sloppy mission in Japan. The girl built a conscience when she met Monji, an 11-year-old boy who lost his mother to a crime syndicate.
“When Monji is captured, 13 is hell-bent on setting a path of destruction to rescue the boy, including going against her mentor and the organization that hires her, the Shadow.”

WOMAN OF THE HOUR – OCTOBER 18
In 1978, a serial killer appeared on live TV as a bachelor onThe Dating Game. Director (and star)Anna Kendricktells the tale inWoman of the Hour, a based-on-true-events thriller.
Netflix previews the upcoming festival hit, “The stranger-than-fiction story of an aspiring actor in 1970s Los Angeles and a serial killer in the midst of a yearslong murder spree, whose lives intersect when they’re cast on an episode of The Dating Game.”
Meagan Navarro explains in herfour-star review for Bloody Disgusting, “Anna Kendricktakes aim at the true crime serial killer story in her feature directorial debut,Woman of the Hour. FAMILY PACK – OCTOBER 23
In the board gameThe Werewolves of Millers Hollow, inspired byWerewolf, paranoia and mistrust ensue as players seek to uncover the hidden identity of a werewolf in their midst. Coming to Netflix in October, French comedy Family Pack adapts the horror board game.
François Uzan (“Lupin”) helms the family-friendly feature.
In the film, “After discovering a mysterious card game, a family is thrust back in time to a medieval village where they must fend off dangerous werewolves each night.”

DON’T MOVE – OCTOBER 25

The writer and director of slasher-comedyFreaky are reuniting for the time-traveling slasher movie Time Cut, withChristopher Landonproducing andMichael Kennedywriting the script alongsideHanna Macpherson(“Into the Dark”). MacPherson also directsTime Cut, which has been described as “Back to the FuturemeetsScream.”
In the upcoming slasher, premiering on Netflix for Halloween Eve, “A teenage girl travels back to the early 2000s to stop a vicious killer from murdering her sister.”
